TOUGH TERRAIN I &II

NFPA Ropes Operations

Evacuating victims from steep slopes can be treacherous.  Rescuers are subject to everything from sprained ankles to injured backs.  Learn how to use ropes, hardware and gear to help prevent further injuries to victims and rescuers. Basic rappelling practice on Day 2. Course counts for EMS credit - Classroom and on-site practice.

Train the Trainer

Instructor exercises and classroom practice.  Total of 25 hours.  Includes Operations level ropes certification

Practical Ice Rescue

Every year, would-be rescuers die while attempting ice rescues.  Gain the skills and knowledge needed for safe, swift ice rescues in this premier ice rescue course.  course counts for credit with national EMS registry.  Classroom and on-site exercises.

  Flood and Swiftwater Operations

This class does not require advanced swimming or boat handling skills.  Learn how to read the river for hazards, self-rescue techniques, wading rescues and tethered boat based rescues.

Classroom and on-site exercises.  14 hours over 2 days

 Flood and Swiftwater Technician

Spend two days on whitewater rivers, learning self-rescue, wading rescue, tethered boat rescue, swimming rescues.  Strenuous physical exertion can be expected.  Basic River Rescue (Awareness and Operations) is a pre-requisite.  1000 ft. open water swimming required

 Swiftwater Technician is offered only at White Bear Rescue Training Center.
